Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Weirton, WV Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,272 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Weirton, West Virginia, 26062! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips. - Required to titrate drips: Yes. - Common titratable drips include cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, angiomax. Description: Unit has a total of 30 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-6, depending on acuity. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac patients, post pneumonia, post cath lab, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal. CIWA protocols, pacemakers, and more are in use. Charge nurse on each shift, with night shift charge taking a lighter patient assignment. Patient care technicians are available to assist with ADLs, vitals, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, and blood sugars. Primary attending physicians are on-call at night, with no nocturnist available for the entire facility. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 and assigned to the unit. Nurses are expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. Monitor technicians are present 24/7, and nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips and print strips to identify rhythms. Self-scheduling is allowed, with staff able to make an ideal schedule. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. May be asked to participate in holiday rotation. No call or standby requirement. Travelers may float to any inpatient unit, with travelers being the first to float. Scrub color is navy blue. There are 2 days of general orientation and 1 day with a preceptor. Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is Cerner. BSN is not required.
