Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ED - Emergency Department - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/03/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, evenings, nights - Employment Type: Travel Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) Preference: EPIC Computer Charting Experience Position Summary Provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge and Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. Utilizes the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop and implement plans of care, and evaluate outcomes for patients across the neonate through geriatric population. This role includes scheduled on-call assignments as needed due to community event–related fluctuations in Emergency Department patient volume. Minimum Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Functions effectively as a team member and liaison between patients and staff - Promotes and supports harmonious communication - Demonstrates strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills - Communicates in a highly professional manner at all times - Maintains emotional stability and sound judgment when working with acutely ill patients - Uses tact, sensitivity, and professionalism when interacting with patients, families, and coworkers License / Certification / Registration - Current Pennsylvania RN License - Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (renewed every 2 years) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA (renewed every 2 years) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA (renewed every 2 years) - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Responsibilities Essential Functions - Triage all patients entering the emergency care system and prioritize care based on physical and psychosocial needs - Perform hourly rounding in the department and every 30 minutes in the waiting room when applicable - Document comprehensive nursing assessments including chief complaint, health status, and relevant history - Develop, implement, and continuously update individualized plans of care - Ensure emergency supplies and equipment are available and functioning properly - Incorporate discharge planning and ongoing communication with patients and families - Manage complications and emergencies per Mount Nittany Medical Center policies and ENA standards - Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety - Document patient responses to interventions and modify care accordingly - Provide patient and family education prior to treatments and procedures - Communicate accurate health information and appropriate referrals - Document patient and family understanding of discharge instructions Non-Essential Functions - Perform related and miscellaneous duties as assigned About Talent4Health A leader and innovator, offering comprehensive talent solutions for the healthcare industry across the nation.
