Job Overview
The Senior Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing the
supply agreements and relationships with alliance suppliers for a
specific commodity or commodities (castings, steel, forgings,
etc.). Ensures that all supplier agreements are fully implemented
across all relevant business units and that benefit and effect are
measured and communicated. Regular formal alliance partner reviews
will identify ongoing cost reduction and improvement opportunities.
This position will require travel to business units and the
alliance suppliers. Preferred location base is our Global
Distribution Center, located in Charleroi, PA. There is an
alternate option of being based out of either our Franklin, PA or
Warrendale, PA Komatsu locations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain long term strategic supplier alliances,
which could be located domestically or internationally.
- Formal Alliance Management review meeting with each supplier
each quarter to measure performance, contract compliance,
continuous improvement initiatives, forecast accuracy, etc.
- Develop and provide all commodity-market-supplier intelligence,
"should be" costs, parts cost modeling and market trends.
- Serve as liaison to design engineering and product managers.
Ensure all new product development or part introductions occur with
strategic sourcing support.
- For new projects, the incumbent is in charge of participating
in the selection of the best-suited partner, evaluating
technological and business capabilities. As part of the selection
process, the incumbent will select the pool of partners to contact
and will help to build the business model required to make the new
project successful and profitable
- For existing contracts the incumbent is responsible to
guarantee timely execution and within the agreed budget, by being
the focal point of escalation for issues pertaining to the
agreement, requirements and contract
- Initiates and leads the business model definition including
Scope, NRE, Schedule, Tooling, per unit charges (if applicable) and
all other business model variables
- Builds consensus inside the organization to obtain executive
approval of business terms
- Leads other groups including Procurement, Quality and other
Organizations in the definition of the contractual terms. Drives
efforts required to obtain the timely delivery of contractual
material including Product Specs, SOWs, Responsibility Matrices and
others
- Recommends, proposes, negotiates approval, and implements
policies, procedures, or programs-may have to adapt plans to
accommodate different cultures, business practices, or customs
- Maintains close relationships with the offices of senior,
current and prospective customer and industry partners and
suppliers Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Business or in Marketing or equivalent
experience, Masters in Business Administration with strong
technical background preferred
- 5+ years experience in Business Development or Product
Management in the capital goods, industrial market, and 2+ years
experience in project management or operations
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Professional and dynamic presentations skills
- Excellent large cross-functional project management skills
- Ability to effectively negotiate large profitable business
agreements at executive levels
- Excellent desktop applications and modeling skills
- Understand sensitivities in dealing with suppliers and
customers
- Excellent business acumen and understanding of corporate
finance principles
- Excellent leadership skills and keen work ethic
- Able to work in an environment with quick changing
priorities
