Summary:As the Instructor, you will provide instruction in building maintenance for the PSCN Maintenance Tech Apprenticeship Program that consists of a 14-month or a 2320 hour apprenticeship to prepare the apprentice to gain experience and competency to fulfill the job functions of a Maintenance Tech I. Hybrid competency-based apprenticeship involves: 2032 hours on-the-job learning and 288 hours related classroom instruction including OSHA 10.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Identifies and suggests innovative approaches and participates in implementing performance improvement opportunities. Maintains compliance with Presbyterian SeniorCare Network policy and procedure in accordance with governing laws, regulations, regulatory agencies, accreditation bodies and community standards. Demonstrates on a consistent basis individual and team behavior that supports culture change, Woodwell and Woodside philosophies of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network. Consistently upholds the mission, values and behavior standards of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network. Maintains confidentiality. Other duties may be assigned.1. This instruction and experience shall include the following operations, but not necessarily in the sequence below. Time spent on specific functions need not be continuous.- Introduction to Presbyterian SeniorCare Network and the role of the Apprentice: 16 hours- Safety Rules and Regulations: 32 hours- Grounds Maintenance: 120 hours- Documentation: 40 hours- Painting: 160 hours- Basic Electrical: 160 hours- Basic Plumbing: 160 hours- Basic Carpentry: 160 hours- Preventative Maintenance: 160 hours- Basic Maintenance and Repair of Mechanical Equipment: 160 hours- Basic Appliance Repair and HVAC: 160 hours- Problem Solving Skills: 48 hours- Customer Service Skills: 48 hours- Basic Computer Skills: 56 hours- Putting it all together: 840 hours2. Develop/deliver hands-on lab exercises and simulations to provide students with an understanding of the role and duties of the Maintenance Tech in Senior Affordable Housing Communities.3. Demonstrate mastery of course material, come to class prepared to teach the days lesson (including preparing all handouts, exams or other materials before the start of class), and present the material conscientiously.4. Teach course(s) in accordance with the description in the Course Master and in accordance with Department and/or standardized course policies.5. Provide feedback and guidance to apprentice students to promote student learning and success.6. Meet all scheduled classes and examinations as scheduled.7. Grade and return written work to students in a timely manner.8. Maintain appropriate records of student s attendance, intermediate, and final grades; submit required reports to the appropriate office by the scheduled deadlines.9. Develop and distribute an effective course syllabus, following the guidelines of PSCN policies and incorporating required elements for the course master; adhere to the written syllabus throughout the program, within reasonable limits; participate in the course evaluation process.10. Be informed of PSCN support services for students and recommend their use, when advisable.11. Participate in professional, and community activities.12. Facilitate student learning and initiate and participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success.13. Responsible for performing, analyzing and reporting assessment of student learning.14. Create assessments and rubrics that clearly indicate how student performance will be evaluated.15. Communicate with program mentors as necessary to facilitate coordination of in classroom learning activities and on the job learning experiences.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesInstructor is responsible for the supervision of the Maintenance Tech Apprentices.Minimum QualificationsRequired: 3+ years' of related, hands-on work experience in Building Trades including Electricity; HVAC; Plumbing/Fitting; Welding/Fabricating; or Carpentry.Demonstrated ability to express themselves clearly in both oral and written forms and demonstrate classroom presentation skills.Strong communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsPreferred QualificationsTeaching experience is a plus. Background in maintenance apprenticeships desired.Computer SkillsBasic computer skills (email, web searching) and ability to use work order system.Certifications, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Driver s LicenseAccess to a registered and insured vehicle for frequent and regular travel between communities.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
