Description
Mt. Macrina Manor is a 133 bed, not for profit, skilled nursing
facility that has served Southwestern Pennsylvania since 1971. The
grounds are located approximately one hour south of Pittsburgh in a
scenic, peaceful rural area directly off Route 40 in Uniontown. The
facility offers 24 hour nursing care, rehabilitative services,
memory care, and pastoral care to all denominations. We accept all
residents without regard to race, color, age, sex, national origin,
religious creed, disability or genetic information. Our mission is
based upon the sponsorship of the Sisters of St. Basil the Great.
Our staff continues the mission of the Sisters of providing joyous,
compassionate care that preserves the human dignity of all that we
serve.
General Description:
The Security Guard is responsible for performing security and
custodial duties within established timelines, performance
expectations, and in accordance with Mt. Macrina Manor policy and
procedures, state and federal guidelines, and all other entities as
appropriate.
Essential Duties:
- Demonstrate an understanding and puts into practice
person-centered philosophy by entering into a relationship with the
residents, families and staff where the goal is to provide a
comfortable and home-like environment and the relationship develops
into a meaningful and satisfying one for all involved.
- Conduct hourly interior and exterior rounds of nursing home.
Example: Walk thru inside of building, checks all doors, sidewalks,
parking lots for safety issues.
- Patrol Mt. St. Macrina grounds (check doors, etc.): House of
Prayer; Observatory, Prayer Garden; First Aid Building; Trinity
Center, One Door Mission; Maintenance Sheds, Dormitories; St.
Gabriel Men's Dorm; Race Track; Cemetery; Mausoleum; Monastery;
Crucifixion; St. Anne's Shrine. Immediately notifies Sisters at the
Monastery of any areas that are not secure or suspicious.
- Submit a guard report to Director of Environmental Services at
end of shift.
- Remove trash on a regular basis. Does not allow trash to
accumulate and set on floors.
- Salt and clean walk ways when necessary. Keeps lobby porch
swept, clean, and orderly.
- Escort undesirable or terminated employees from the building
when necessary.
- Transports/escorts residents to dining areas.
- Receives deliveries, assures all items are accounted for as per
packing slips, and place in designated areas.
- Tags and distributes oxygen tanks to storeroom locations and
assures adequate stock. Collects and returns empty tanks to
basement collection area.
- Makes local deliveries and pickups when needed.
- Assures they are accessible by cell phone or 2-way radios at
all times, and respond in a timely manner.
- Uses proper equipment, chemicals, and methodology to clean and
sanitize wheelchairs according to established cleaning
schedule.
- Any and all duties as directed by management.
- Customer Service: Demonstrates an understanding and puts into
practice excellent customer service by creating a positive first
impression, handling with care, being a team player, communicating
professionally and acting like an owner.
- Compliance: Demonstrates commitment to operating in accordance
with its mission, vision, and values. Specifically this means
maintaining accuracy and integrity in all of its activities,
including providing quality, timely, and necessary care to its
residents and operating within the limits of local, state and
federal regulations.
- HIPAA: Demonstrates confidentiality through a conscious effort
to keep all personal information private. This may include the
resident's identity, physical or psychological condition, emotional
status, or financial situation.
- Actively participates in the Resident Dining Program after
completing the Feeding Assistant Training Program unless already
licensed or certified in an appropriate field. Functions may
include: Transporting residents to dining areas, Passing meal trays
and assisting residents with tray set-up, Assisting with feeding
residents who are not considered high risk, Adhering to dining
schedules and assignments, and Completes tasks within safety and
regulatory guidelines.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
- Must have the ability to be courteous, kind, respectful and
understanding when dealing with staff, residents, patients, and
their families and other visitors.
- Ability to read, write and follow oral or written instructions
so that the assigned task may be carried out independently. Also
able to write a narrative description of the work that has been
completed during the shift.
- Previous security experience, preferred
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, lift, bend at knees and waist, stoop, kneel,
reach, climb step stool, and stand in place for extended
periods.
- Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push or pull up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use close vision, peripheral vision, and adjust
focus.
Due to regulatory requirement by the Centers of Medicare and
Medicaid services, a COVID-19 vaccination is required and
considered a condition of employment. To be eligible for hire with
Mt. Macrina Manor, prospective employees must be fully vaccinated
at time of orientation. A person is considered fully vaccinated two
weeks after their second dose in a two-shot series, such as the
Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a
single-dose vaccine, such as the J&J/Janssen vaccine.
