HR/LR Representative As a HR/LR Representative at Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, youll be part of a global team making steel that goes into products that are visible all around you. The ideal candidate will be responsible for company policy and procedure adherence, consistent and accurate application of the collective bargaining agreement and local agreements, recruitment efforts, payroll and benefits, new hire orientation and onboarding. In addition, you will build strong relationships with our company's managers to assist them with their HR/LR needs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs benefits administration, including change reporting, issue resolution and communicating benefits information to employees. Ensures compliance with the current collective bargaining agreement and local agreements for hourly employees. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel. Participates in staff, safety, and other meetings. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed. Conducts audits of various payroll, benefits or other HR/LR programs and recommend any corrective action. Assists with the development and maintenance of affirmative action program; EEO-1 reporting; and maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations. Conducts the recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel; conducts new-employee orientations; writes and places advertisement; and processes background checks. Update HRIS database records and process paperwork for new hires, terminations, and other status changes. Perform payroll/benefits-related reconciliations. Assist HR/LR Manager with various research projects and/or special projects. Create new employee personnel files and file papers and documents into appropriate employee files. Coordinate participation in local on-boarding and orientation sessions for new hires. Completes I-9 for new hires and maintains I-9 records. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. Other duties as may be required. Minimum requirements: A bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field and 5 years of HR experience OR a master's degree in HR management and three years of experience in the HR field AND 3 years of LR experience as a well-rounded HR Generalist in a large, industrial unionized environment. Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. Must have integrity, be highly analytical, and have a strong desire to be deeply involved in the business. Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Possess strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact and communicate effectively with personnel from all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively manage projects and daily tasks with minimal supervision.
