OVERVIEW

The Product Manager is responsible for driving product vision and execution as we look to expand our analytics and reporting offerings in our Nursing Education portfolio. The person will create and drive a strategy for customer facing analytics and reporting across our products, ensuring that we are delighting our customers, both students and faculty, with the insight we provide. This individual will consider reporting and assessment needs both at a course and a curriculum level and collaborate across product managers, with the NCLEX team and the content teams to ensure the assessment strategy is consistently implemented across the portfolio and drives toward strategic analytics goals.

This position will be responsible for defining business models and pricing strategies for reporting and analytics opportunities. Defining the business strategy, including monetization, is a key function of this job. This position will also be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the nursing education market and its personas. Based on customer engagement to determine customer needs, the Product Manager will create and run pilots, define new strategy and product ideas, put forth business cases, and explore relevant partnerships. This person will collaborate with the data science team, technology team, and product owner execute on validated ideas.

LOCATION: Philadelphia PA or remote U.S.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Digital Product Manager's primary responsibilities include:

  • Customer Insight
  • Research and initiate new concepts, products and areas of expansion through faculty, dean, and student interviews to ensure products are based on market needs
  • Coordinate to conduct contextual inquiry, customer interviews, and employ other tactics to understand our customers
  • Conduct experiments to validate ideas with customers
  • Campus and exhibit travel to ensure a depth and breadth of market/customer needs and new opportunities for product

  • Defining new products and strategy
  • Develop customer need driven product ideas and strategy in reporting and assessment
  • Create and deliver effective business cases
  • Define costs in cooperation with different functional areas
  • Develop grounded sales projections
  • Ensure buy in from key stakeholders such as marketing and sales
  • Effectively pitch business case to management and executives as needed.

  • Define and Run pilots prior to full blown business case as appropriate
  • Develop strategic partnerships as appropriate
  • Ability to negotiate with partners

  • Lead the team to execute product ideas
  • Provide product owner with high level requirements
  • Facilitate with product owner and technical teams to provide leadership to ensure projects stay on track and in keeping with the strategic priorities

  • Plan and Drive Successful Go to Market
  • Work with marketing, sales, sales support, customer success, and sales enablement colleagues for effective product launches
  • Create and execute Market Development plans at the beginning of the Product Development life cycle

  • Develop and Update Strategic Roadmap
  • Continually define and update roadmap for reporting and assessment
  • Complete business cases as appropriate for major investments
  • Work with product owner to effectively project and budget expenses for upcoming year.

  • Forecasting and planning for Portfolio annually
  • Completion of Business Plan which details market trends, customer needs, competitive landscape and roadmap related to these elements
  • Develop 3-year sales projections for portfolio

  • Management of the P&L
  • Monitor sales and costs of the P&L ensuring sales and costs are on target and on budget by:
  • Develop investment strategies with accompanying business cases to bring solutions to market and achieve program financial goals
  • Oversee sales opportunities, working with sales and marketing colleagues to ensure the meeting of budget targets, and ultimately the increasing revenue.
  • Monitor profitability
  • Develop new business models to drive growth and sales.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: College degree (BA/BS) or relevant equivalent experience

Experience: 3+ years experience in product management, business development and/or acquisitions. Product Management experience in assessment or analytics products desirable, preferably focused on Higher Ed market

  • Ability to determine customer needs and market trends
  • Ability to provide clear vision and direction, as owner of the reporting and assessment strategy
  • Attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines
  • Negotiating and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel to meet business goals and objectives
  • Strong analytic skills, including using MS Excel to forecast and analyze data and trends
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience working on assessment or analytics products

  • Preferred:
  • Contract negotiation experience
  • Experience in the Higher Education market
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Familiarity with the agile development process
  • Experience bringing new products to market
