Position Summary : A General Merchandise Lead at Market District must provide leadership in the GM Department that brings the Market District concept to life by offering unique products of the highest quality, unparalleled customer service, and an overall customer experience that is both exciting and satisfying. The General Merchandising Lead is accountable for the General Merchandise Department that consists of house wares, toys, office products, seasonal items, gifts, magazines and books. The Lead will order products and supplies, and implement merchandising initiatives to stimulate the growth of the business and maximizing profits as well as the operating performance of the department at all times. The department and Team Members must provide unparalleled customer service through prompt, professional and friendly service. About Us : Experience Required: 1 to 3 years Retail Work Experience or Store Leader recommendation Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age Job Responsibilities Actively support a culture of safety which includes, but is not limited to, food safety, Team Member safety and customer safety Display a commitment to learn about food and share food knowledge with fellow team members and customers. Demonstrate a willingness to learn, understand, and communicate the Market District Passion for Food philosophy, which includes the willingness to taste and experience new product offerings. Actively demonstrate appropriate suggestive selling techniques. Provide active selling opportunities, when appropriate. Conduct business, at all times, with a clear understanding that customer service is a significant point of difference for the Market District banner. Every interaction, whether with an internal or external customer, is to be conducted with the highest degree of integrity and with an understanding that the end result is to deliver service in an unparalleled manner Actively participate in, and promote, an environment which embraces diversity, inclusion, and respect for Team Members, Customers, Vendors, and the Community. Provide leadership that promotes and exemplifies a Passion for Food and an understanding of the relationship between general merchandising, food, and their ability to impact sales growth. Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning inventories and work processes to calculate gross monthly profit according to Company policy. Order products to ensure appropriate in-stock conditions & inventory control. Manage and implement all product tags including weekly tags, new items, discontinued items, special promotions, etc. Work with Customer Service co- manager and Food Marketing Manager to develop Team Member & customer educational programs. Develop creative merchandising programs and in-store promotional programs that maximize product awareness and provide an outstanding experience that delights our customers resulting in sales and profit. Control department costs by monitoring and improving operations to increase profitability. Stock shelves by taking product from backroom, opening boxes, and stocking product to proper location on shelf.
