The Senior Engineer role will be primarily responsible for
technical investigation and analysis of various detailed studies
and preparing deliverables related to green stormwater
infrastructure (GSI), MS4 programming/permitting, stormwater and
sewer piping design, environmental site design, stormwater
management, erosion and sediment control, permitting and plan
review, and construction inspection and oversight for public and
private clients. This role will also be responsible for developing
and executing business development, strategic and operational
initiatives, and growth strategies within the Pittsburgh Office
Engineering Service Group. The Senior Engineer will oversee project
management, budget management, and all technical aspects of
project/work assignments. This person will also work with and will
be accountable to the Vice President of Engineering Services for
compliance with corporate engineering standards, quality assurance
& quality control (QAQC), and coordination with engineering and
engineering support staff across the corporation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the design and/or implementation of a variety of water
resources programs and strategies for public and private clients
with the principal specialized focus on GSI systems, and MS4
programming and permitting. Assist the Regional Business
Development Coordinator with business development efforts including
positioning, pursuits, and client satisfaction for the Pittsburgh
Engineering Service Group.
Apply expertise in MS4 programming and permitting.
Develop best management practices strategies for stormwater
runoff, watershed management, conservation goals, and regulatory
compliance with clean water laws and regulations.
Analyze stormwater systems to identify opportunities for
Perform various calculations related to the sizing and/or
operation of stormwater infrastructure.
Conduct technical studies for water resources on topics such as
pollutants and water treatment options.
Conduct cost-benefit studies for watershed improvement projects
or water management alternatives.
Develop and prepare technical design drawings.
Communicate project results and findings by means
of technical reports, oral discussions, and presentations.
Implement engineering policies and procedures to support company
growth and enhanced integration of engineering services.
Develop scope, person-hour estimates and project/task
Manage budgets and all technical aspects of projects/task
assignments in compliance with corporate engineering policies,
procedures, principles and goals.
Perform QAQC and supervise additional engineering staff.
Provide technical engineering direction and workload planning to
junior engineering staff.
Perform and manage engineering projects/tasks using knowledge of
applicable local, state, federal laws, regulations, guidelines,
standards and best practices regarding water resources
Obtain and maintain professional education and training
Develop and execute strategic and operational initiatives, and
strategies, related to engineering services for the Pittsburgh
Engineering Service Group.
Develop and implement innovative growth strategies, initiatives
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania.
10+ years of project management experience in managing
Experience in business development and marketing of engineering
Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong technical knowledge of stormwater and GSI design and
Ability to identify, design, coordinate and implement
Business Development skills including knowledge of strategic
planning and marketing, resource allocation and client relations
Strong project management skills with the ability to develop,
maintain and monitor project/task and design schedules and
Ability to perform calculations for engineering design in areas
including but not limited to stormwater management, ecological
restoration, stream and wetland restoration and environmental
Strong technical writing and digital drafting skills (AutoCAD or
Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs,
Outlook, PowerPoint, and other database software as well as the
ability to learn new software systems quickly.
Ability to utilize GIS software.
Ability to communicate ideas and technical information
accurately, clearly and concisely to team members and clients.
Ability to understand, interpret and follow oral and written
