Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/05/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Local Contract Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) Location: Akron Campus, Ohio Department: 3 North – Med-Surg/Telemetry Unit Start Date: April 5, 2026 End Date: July 11, 2026 Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) Job Type: Long-Term Assignment (Contract) Interview: Required Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) to join a fast-paced unit specializing in epilepsy monitoring and medical overflow. This role requires a strong nurse capable of handling high-acuity patients, including those with substance abuse conditions, in an environment similar to an Emergency Department. Key Responsibilities - Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med-Surg and Telemetry patients - Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to clinical changes - Perform IV insertion, blood draws, and medication administration - Serve as Charge Nurse when required - Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC (required experience within last 12 months) - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams - Float to other units as required - Ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards Unit Details - 17-bed Med-Surg/Telemetry unit - Focus: Epilepsy monitoring and medical overflow - High patient volume with substance abuse cases - Patient Ratio: 1:5 - Staffing: 4 RNs 2 Nursing Assistants Minimum QualificationsEducation - ASN or BSN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Licensure - Active RN license (Ohio or compact state) Experience - Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience - Strong experience in Med-Surg and Telemetry - Recent Charge Nurse experience required - Experience in fast-paced/high-acuity settings preferred Required Certifications - BLS (Basic Life Support) - ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - NIH Stroke Certification Skills & Competencies - Strong cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation skills - Ability to perform IV starts and blood draws independently - Excellent critical thinking and clinical decision-making - Proficiency in EPIC EHR system - Strong communication and teamwork abilities Additional Requirements - EPIC experience within the last 12 months (mandatory) - Maximum 7 days RTO allowed at submission - Must be open to floating across units - Solid black scrubs required - Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis About Encode INC At Encode, we empower organizations and individuals through innovative, human-centric workforce and technology solutions.
