Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years MS Oncology RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide expert nursing care on a busy 52-bed MedSurg unit specializing in ortho and general surgical patients in a contract role based in Weirton, WV. This position offers 12-hour night shifts, working every other weekend and scheduling holidays as needed, supporting a diverse patient population including ortho post-ops, neuro post-ops, and medical diagnoses such as COPD and pneumonia. Primary Responsibilities: Deliver direct patient care in a mostly 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio environment. Collaborate with the charge nurse, clinical assistants, CNA team, IV team, RTs, and pharmacy to ensure comprehensive care. Manage drips such as Heparin and intermittent BIPAP/CPAP ventilations, providing advanced MedSurg care. Respond to fluctuating patient needs, including floating to other MedSurg or Oncology units and occasional IMC overflow. Utilize EMR (Sunrise) for documentation and coordination. Participate in weekend and holiday rotation schedules. Desired Qualifications: Active RN license with experience in MedSurg nursing; Oncology MedSurg background highly valued. BLS certification required; NIHSS certification mandatory. ACLS certification is a strong plus. Solid understanding of postoperative orthopedic and neurological care. Experience with peritoneal dialysis preferred. Ability to read telemetry strips is advantageous but not required. Flexibility and professionalism to perform in a dynamic hospital environment.
