Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Weirton, WV Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,218 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 1 year License: RN License required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: 1 year of experience is required. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Description: The unit consists of 48 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5-7 on days and 1:6-8 on nights. Nurses are required to titrate drips, with exceptions for cardiac drip titration. Common titratable drips include heparin, bumex, and lasix. There are 2 charge nurses on day shifts who take patient assignments. During night shifts, if only 1 charge nurse is scheduled, they do not take an assignment. The unit has nurse aids/patient care techs with an average ratio of 1:10-12. Job duties for aides include vitals, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, applying heart monitors, bathing, feeding, toileting, and patient positioning. Respiratory therapists administer breathing treatments and manage respiratory equipment. Nurses monitor these treatments but are not required to perform them. There is a monitor tech located on another level who reads and monitors telemetry for all patients. Nurses are not expected to interpret telemetry strips. There is no self-scheduling or block scheduling. Shifts are managed by the department manager, who accommodates requested time off. Every other weekend work is required. Holidays may be assigned based on a rotation. There is no standby or call requirement. Staff may be floated to other medical surgical units as needed for lower acuity patients. Scrub colors are navy blue for nurses and ceil blue for aides. There is a specific dress code that must be followed. There is 1 day of unit-specific orientation and 1 day of preceptor orientation. Cancellation policy allows the client to cancel 2 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done using the Cerner system.
