Job Description Join UPMC Shadyside's Surgical Float Pool! Are
you an experienced Registered Nurse interested in working within
our Surgical Departments? Do you enjoy using your years of
experience to provide life-changing medicine to our surgical
population? UPMC Shadyside, a Magnet-designated facility, is
currently hiring a Registered Nurse to support the Surgical Unit's
Float Pool. These units include 3 Main, 3 West, and 4 Main. (Must
have 6 months of RN experience.) Surgical Float Pool nurses receive
an extra 10% included in their base pay! Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 for
nurses with less than one year of RN experience/$20,000 for
registered nurses with at least one year of RN experience About the
Units: - 4 Main - Surgical oncology nursing encompasses patients
who are recovering from post-surgical procedures for the treatment
of life-altering cancers. These surgical procedures include
cytoreductive (debulking) surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal
chemotherapy treatment, whipple procedures, colon resections, liver
resections, and other abdominal/rectal procedures. Nurses on 4main
are exposed to many different types of tubes and drains that our
patients experience in their post-surgical phase. These drains
include (but are not limited to) wound vacs, ileostomies,
colostomies, feeding tubes, jackson pratt (JP) drains, pigtail
catheters, and chest tubes. Patients on 4main require staff members
that are highly motivated, encouraging, and driven to provide
patients with the best possible experiences and outcomes. - 3 West
- This is an Orthopedic unit that specializes in total joint
replacement, orthopedic oncology surgical services, spine surgery,
sports injuries, and a wide range of medical management. New and
experienced nurses will experience an exciting range of services
including wound care, surgical recovery, patient education, and the
opportunity to see motivated patients work to get back on their
feet through physical therapy and other nursing modalities. Our
unit works collaboratively with all members of the care team and
participates in “care coordination” where the nurse is a critical
part of the patient’s discharge planning - 3 Main - This is a
38-bed surgical unit caring for post-op cardiovascular and
cardiothoracic patients. We care for high acuity patients
recovering from open heart surgery, pacemaker insertion, aneurysms,
and various thoracic and vascular surgeries. 3 Main a teaching unit
with a dynamic learning environment, where nurses will gain
experience with chest tubes, trachs, monitors, pacemakers, and
arrhythmia IV drips. 3 Main is fast-paced and team-oriented, and
serves as Shadyside's cardiac step-down unit. Here's how we support

Starting Pay: Non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse begins at $37.00.

Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and
positioning of patients. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) -
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both didactic and
skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. - Registered
Nurse (RN) - Current licensure either in the state where the
facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by
the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a
multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. - Hires and
current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later
change their residency to the state where the facility is also
located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply
for licensure within that state. - UPMC approved national
