Job Description UPMC Altoona is looking for a casual MRI tech!
Must have a flexible schedule to be able to work any shift
Responsibilities: /n /n - Selects proper technical factors on an
individual patient basis. Proper technical factors as exam,
diagnosis indicates; technologist sets equipment as needed. /n -
Use of PACS and Syngo.Has knowledge of the hospital PACS system, to
review and acquire current and previous images. Use of the
Radiology Information System and Sorian Scheduling System. Has
knowledge in performing the tasks of scanning documents,
interactive documents, able to charge, revise, and add procedures.
/n - Assists in performing first aid as necessary. Technologist
will possess skills and system for first aid as necessary and renew
skills annually per job requirements. /n - Supports department and
hospital based CPI activities by actively participating in the CPI
process. /n - Acquires and maintains skill level in venipuncture
therapy in accordance with department policy. /n - Provides
immobilizing devices as required. Provides immobilizing devices as
required. /n - Provides protection in accordance with prescribed
safety standards.Technologist insures that all guidelines are
followed for the patient, co-workers and understand what
requirements are necessary. /n - Demonstrates knowledge and ability
to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to
all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and
disease. /n - Selects and operates equipment as directed.
Technologist set up equipment to provide the best information on
exam as needed. /n - Transfers and positions patients.
Technologists moves patient into positions per exam, radiologist
dictates. /n - Addresses all patient information to ensure patient
safety, and directs patients accordingly /n - Rotates within the
department or other areas and by shift as required. /n - Maintains
adequate records as directed on requisitions, etc. Maintains
orderliness and cleanliness. Secures and returns supplies. /n - May
be responsible for specific areas of instruction for ancillary
personnel. Technologist will cooperate in education for ancillary
staff, students and whomever directed by supervisor or medical or
Administrative Directors. /n - Practices sterile technique and
prevents cross contamination. Technologist will consistently
provide sterile environment items to insure patient's and
co-workers' well being. /n - Complies with established occupational
BBF and TB exposure policies. /n - Assists physicians in
administering contrast media. Technologist has needed items,
contrast, amount to be injected available plus any other materials
as directed by physician and/or radiologist. /n Graduate of an ARRT
approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an
accredited CNMT, ARMRIT or ARDMS program. ARRT registry eligible
technologist must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date. MR
registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary
registry was acquired. CNMT, ARDMS and ARMRIT graduates must obtain
MR registry within 12 months of hire date. /n If no MRI registry at
hire, UPMC Altoona will provide training and clinical experiences.
/n /n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: /n /n - ARRT
Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
(ARDMS) /n - Must obtain MRI registry within 18 months of hire
date. /n - CPR or BLS Required /n - CPR required based on AHA
standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration
component within 30 days of hire /n - Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
with renewal /n - Act 33 with renewal /n - Act 34 with renewal /n -
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal /n /n UPMC is an Equal
