Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Morgantown, WV Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,380 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Morgantown, West Virginia, 26506! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Ability to have strong assessment skills. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment. Description: The unit has 24 spacious, private rooms with state-of-the-art monitoring capabilities. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 with assistance from clinical associates. The unit serves a medical/surgical/trauma population. It specializes in patients diagnosed with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures, and complex trauma patients. The unit also focuses on respiratory-compromised patients, including bipap management, blood gas interpretation, tracheostomies, and chronic vent-dependent patients. Additional specialties include reconstructive plastic surgery with microvascular free flaps and advanced diabetic management for type 1 and type 2 patients. Quality care is provided to patients experiencing general surgical interventions and complex wound management. The unit provides a higher level of care for patients requiring 24-hour hemodynamic monitoring. It is equipped with 11 rooms featuring in-ceiling lifts to promote early patient mobilization. There are exceptional learning opportunities available for seasoned nursing staff and new graduate nurses to enhance their skill set. Common diagnoses include trauma and general medical/surgical patients. Experience with titrating drips is required, including cardizem, labetalol, amiodarone, and others. Charge nurses and house supervisors are present 24/7. Typically, the unit runs with 3 aides for 24 patients with a ratio of 3:8 or at times 1:12. The unit is equipped with Bipap, Cpap, and vents that are chronic or not being weaned. All beds are monitored, and technician support is available in a central location. Basic EKG interpretation skills are needed, while technicians will read the strips. Video monitoring is also utilized for patient safety. Shifts are from 7 PM to 7:30 AM on weeknights and weekends. Weekend and holiday requirements are part of a rotational schedule. Floating will be done on a rotational basis with other staff members. Scrub color is royal blue.
