ICU/Critical Care RN in Weirton, West Virginia, 26062! Job Title:

Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years of ICU experience
License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS,
NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 3 years of ICU experience Must have
balloon pump experience Must be comfortable with vent management
and drip titration Description: Unit has a 50-mile radius rule.
Nurse to patient ratio is 1:2-3 (1:5/6 when floated to IMC). Common
diagnoses include respiratory distress, post-arrest, acute
myocardial infarction, balloon pump management, vent patients, and
those needing vasopressor support. Nurses are required to titrate
drips including vasopressors, Levo, Neo, Epi, Nitro, and Heparin.
There is a charge nurse on each shift who takes a full patient
assignment. Patient care techs are scheduled from midnight to 7 PM
and are not available in-house 24/7. No hospitalist or intensivist
is in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 and
assigned to multiple units. Nurses are expected to troubleshoot
equipment, while respiratory therapists manage all respiratory
equipment. Nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips as there
are no tele/monitor techs on the unit. Shifts are from 7 PM to 7
AM, with a four-week schedule allowing staff to create their ideal
schedule. Weekend requirements include every other weekend, and
holiday rotation may be required. Travelers may float to any
inpatient unit and are the first to float if necessary. Dress code
is navy blue scrubs. There is a general orientation and a day with
a preceptor for training. This unit is not closed, and primary
physicians manage patient care. The charting system is Cerner. 5
