ADEX Healthcare Staffing LLC is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Weirton, West Virginia. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Med Surg Job Details: • Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM • 27-bed medical surgical unit with surgical/IRF responsibilities • Daylight nurse-to-patient ratio 1:5 (maximum 6), night turn ratio 1:6 (maximum 7) • Weekend requirement every other weekend • May participate in holiday rotation schedule with alternating groups • Floating requirements on rotating basis to other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC units as needed • No on-call requirement, standby available for low census situations • Required certification: BLS • Must maintain unexpired driver's license within 50-mile radius • BSN degree not required • 1 day orientation with educator, 1-2 days with preceptor • Dress code: Navy blue or white scrubs (scrubs not provided) • Care for orthopedic post-op patients (knee/hip replacements, fractures), GU procedures (TURBT, TURP), general surgery patients (hemicolectomy, cholecystectomy), and post-cath lab patients • Required skills include blood transfusions, wound vac changes, PCA pump management • Titrate heparin drips per protocol • Work with Patient Care Technicians (3 on day shift, 2 on night shift) • Charge nurse present on each shift (daylight charge has no patient assignment, night charge may take 2-3 patients) • Charting system: Cerner • Trouble shoot respiratory equipment as needed (RT handles breathing treatments) • Telemetry strips interpreted by monitor tech on Level 5 Facility: This medical center operates a 27-bed medical surgical unit that provides comprehensive care for orthopedic, genitourinary, and general surgery patients.
