Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job ID: T4H - 914 Position Summary: Responsible to the Unit Director/Manager/designee for overall nursing practice. Provides professional nursing care to treat human responses to life-threatening problems, based on the American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) Standards. This includes assessing patient needs, developing and implementing a plan of care, and evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions to maintain and restore health for pediatric through geriatric populations. The Critical Care nurse must recognize cardiac arrhythmias and life-threatening emergencies, taking appropriate action as needed. Essential Functions: Patient Assessment & Planning: Performs ongoing assessment of critically ill patients to ensure optimal outcomes. Conducts comprehensive health histories and physical assessments. Prioritizes patient problems based on actual or potential threats to life. Develops and continuously updates a plan of care, including problem lists and discharge planning. Clinical Management: Manages life-threatening complications per facility policies and AACN standards. Implements interventions to maintain airway, ventilation, hemodynamic stability, and heart rhythm. Assists with temporary pacemaker insertion and ambulance transport as needed. Professional Accountability: Maintains responsibility for staying current in critical care nursing knowledge and skills. Stays informed of professional issues, trends, scientific advances, and ethical considerations. Keeps current with biomedical equipment relevant to critical care. Ensures all licensure, certification, and registration requirements are met. Training & Competency: Completes all required mandatory education and participates in annual competency evaluations. Actively engages in continuing education to maintain and improve clinical performance.
