Job Description UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a casual Respiratory Care Intern to support the Magee Respiratory Therapy department! /n This position will work flexible rotating shifts. Hours are subject to change based on business needs. /n Respiratory Care Interns (students) will develop the ability to gain additional clinical experience and knowledge prior to the completion of their education in a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program and their subsequent credentialing as a licensed RCP. /n Responsibilities: /n /n - Participate in clinical research projects as required /n - Perform chest physiotherapy according to department standards /n - Assist in the transport of patients requiring respiratory support /n - Administer therapeutic gases such as oxygen as prescribed or according to departmental procedures /n - Perform flutter valve therapy according to department standards /n - Document interactions with and care given to the patient in the medical record and/or hospital information system /n - Prepare and administer aerosolized drugs and drug mixtures as prescribed (i.e., bronchodilator, antibiotics, antibacterial, wetting agents, enzymes, steroids, etc.) /n - Disassemble and prepare respiratory equipment for cleaning, disinfection and/or sterilization /n · Currently enrolled in a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care /n · The intern must register for the Internship/Preceptorship each semester/quarter. /n · The intern must have completed one semester of clinical rotations at a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care. /n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: /n · Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /n /n - Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting /n - Act 33 with renewal /n - Act 34 with renewal /n - Act 73 FBI Clearance /n /n UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran.
