  • Experience: 1+ years preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
  • Productivity: Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment and handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
  • Clinical Judgment: Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
  • Leadership: Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and lead others in the application of the nursing process.
  • Physical Requirements: Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
  • Education: BSN preferred.
  • Internship: Completion of UPMC student nurse internship or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred.
  • Compensation: RN rates will be determined by experience/department equity.Titles and Rates:
    • Professional Staff Nurse: $33.75
    • Sr. Professional Staff Nurse (2 Years of Experience): Starts at $37.41
    • Sr. Professional Staff Nurse II (3 Years of Experience): Starts at $40.47
    • Professional Staff Nurse, Expert (4 Years of Experience): Starts at $45.00Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
      • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
      • Temporary Practice Permit (TPP). Graduate Nurses must complete the licensure examination within 4 months of hire or within one year of graduation- whichever comes first. UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date, or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
      • UPMC-approved national certification is preferred.
      • NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire.
      • CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
