Overview In this role, you will provide leadership of MEC's Quality Systems and team. This is a great position for a change agent who has passion for driving quality improvements to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction. MEC's Quality Manager will take an active role in leading activities that meet and exceed our customer requirements. Responsibilities An experienced Quality Leader is needed to manage and direct a Bedford County Manufacturer's quality assurance department. This leadership position will be responsible for managing the quality team to improve product quality, and process controls through the establishment of manufacturing and quality standards and systems. This includes maintaining ISO 9001, implementing corrective and preventive actions through tracking and analyzing internal and external data and implementing process changes for continuous improvement. The manager will be a key contact with customers to drive higher satisfaction and promote growth with existing customers. Leads team to create SOP's and other quality documents and identifies opportunities to improve manufacturing processes while driving lean practices. This is a great opportunity to take on an important leadership position. Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Quality Systems, or related field with 2 plus years' leadership experience or 4 plus years quality leadership experience. * Direct experience implementing and maintaining ISO quality systems preferred. * Seven or more years of experience in Quality supporting manufacturing with experience in PPAP, FMEA, APQP, SPC, root cause analysis, correction action planning, and Poka Yoke. * Industrial experience with metal fabrication, welding, machining, and heavy equipment manufacturing preferred. * Proficient with MS Office and have the ability to work in a dynamic team environment. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Engineering (any) and a minimum of 7-10 years in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing company related to contract manufacturing, metal fabrication, welding, assembly and/or finish paint. CQE, experience in quality management systems and processes. Experience with quality improvement tools (Lean Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), project management, facilitation skills and problem solving, effective verbal and written communication skills, Quality Team leader experience working within a matrixed organization. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to understand GD&T or other technical design drawings, read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must exhibit the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, along with the ability to develop and interpret various types of graphs. TECHNICAL SKILLS: Ability to understand technical mathematical concepts such as product capability (Cpk), process capability (Ppk) calculations of Parts Per Million defects (PPM) calculating and determining control limits, working with data analysis tools such as histograms, run charts, pareto diagrams, frequency distribution calculations, and other quality concepts. Must be able to functionally utilize tools that perform these functions such as Mini-Tab or Excel SPC or other similar programs, as well as understand and share the information with customers, suppliers and associates. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, as well as draw valid conclusions.
