As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is evolving, the Corizon
clinical and operational leadership teams are actively monitoring
the flow of information from public health sources and assuring
that our sites are prepared in the event of an outbreak at a site
or within their communities. We have provided all site teams with
the necessary information from the Centers for Disease Control
(CDC) regarding screening, isolation, and communication protocols
in the event of confirmed cases. We remain in constant

list of your responsibilities as a Director of Nursing (DON) with
Corizon Health at Western Missouri Correctional Center located in
Cameron, MO: Provide quality oversight in collaboration with site,
regional and corporate leadership. Provide clinical supervision to
nursing staff. Implement appropriate work structure and processes
to accomplish goals for patient care specific to contract
requirements and healthcare policy and procedures. Assist and
support nursing staff with the provision of patient care. Organize
the delivery of safe, effective and efficient patient care.
Evaluate patient care delivery processes on a regular, systematic
and frequent basis. Provide written reports to regional team and
client as scheduled or requested. Effectively use data to identify
performance improvement opportunities, takes action to drive
improvement, and monitor progress through ongoing analysis of data
and results. Facilitate the development of site performance
improvement plans and monitor site progress and reporting.
Participate in and contribute to the achievement of site's key
performance indicators and Clinical Quality Initiatives as
directed. Facilitate the completion of random and scheduled audits
to assess site compliance with contractual requirements,
accreditation standards and continuous quality safety improvement
(CQSI) opportunities. As directed, facilitate the completion of the
appropriate CQSI forms and forward findings/completed forms to
Community/State leadership. Participate and serve on site level
CQSI committee. Conduct at minimum an annual accreditation
readiness audit to assess compliance with standards and identify
opportunities for improvement. Devise a mechanism to track
compliance with accreditation standards every day. As appropriate,
develop action plan(s) based on accreditation readiness audit
findings. Collaborate with site leadership to implement plan(s) and
evaluate effectiveness of action plan(s). Modifies plan(s) as
appropriate. Anticipate healthcare delivery and contractual issues
and deal with potential issues proactively. Collaborate with site
leadership and client to meet the goals of the service contract in
conjunction with regional leadership. Attend or review minutes on a
regular basis for MAC meetings, Disease Management/Case Review and
other healthcare related site meetings. Perform screening
interviews with candidates, assess basic knowledge, skills and fit
within the corrections environment. Set and communicate recruitment
standards and take accountability for recruiting effectiveness and
compliance across his/her area of responsibility. Participate in
the selection process for open site positions. Identify high
potential staff for development, promotion and succession
opportunities. Perform annual clinical competency assessments and
checks to promote the delivery of safe, effective and efficient
nursing care. Promote goal accomplishment (site and individual
level), policy compliance and professional development, schedule at
minimum monthly one on one meetings with direct reports. Provide
developmental mentoring, formalized feedback and coaching to staff.
When appropriate, develop individual performance improvement plans
for staff not meeting performance expectations. Coordinate and
monitor orientation and onboarding activities for new hires and
staff that have moved into a different role. Perform an on-going
assessment of staff learning needs and facilitate in-service and
continuing education for nursing and ancillary personnel to promote
professional development and enhancement of performance. Interpret
regulations and standards and communicate site and unit performance
objectives to staff. Provide guidance and direction on state
licensure, accreditation and regulatory agency requirements. Ensure
nursing practices conform to state licensure, accreditation and
regulatory agency requirements in the clinical setting. Verify
required annual licensures and credentialing requirements for
licensed personnel are met. Ensure compliance with licensure
requirements. Develop monthly schedules for nursing staff and
nursing support staff and ensure that enough nursing staff is
scheduled on each shift with the appropriate skill level. Monitor
and make recommendations to site and regional leadership regarding
nursing support and staff to meet patient and contract needs.
Conduct at minimum monthly staff meetings in collaboration with
site leadership. Assist site leadership with the development and
maintenance of annual operational and clinical performance plans
under the direction of regional operational management. Act as a
liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials.
Ensure nursing records are correctly maintained. Participate in
Pharmacy and Therapeutic, Strategic Initiatives, Patient
Safety/Sentinel Event Committee, Performance Improvement,
Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Utilization Management and other
process improvement committees/initiatives as directed or assigned.
Support Company Initiatives and the application of best practices
in the clinical settings. Assist in completion of special projects
on an as needed basis. Work with others to determine where resource
support should be allocated. Participate in the monthly Regional
DON calls, initiatives and activities. Perform other duties as

Accredited Nursing School required. Bachelor or Master's Degree in
Nursing preferred. Current, unrestricted, non-probationary status
license as a Registered Nurse in the state where the position is
located. Current Basic Life Support/CPR Certification at the
Medical Professional Level with AED Training. Specialty
certification in correctional healthcare is desired (Certified
Correctional Health Professional: CCHP, Certified Correctional
Health Professional Nurse: CCHP-RN). Minimum of 3 years of clinical
experience in a healthcare setting, with correctional healthcare
experience is preferred Previous clinical operations management
experience is preferred; previous direct management experience
within a correctional health setting is desired Knowledge of
accreditation standards (NCCHC, ACA & state-specific) as well as
experience with quality improvement programs and clinical auditing
preferred Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint and
PowerPoint required Previous experience and knowledge in working
with Electronic Medical Record systems is required Satisfactory
completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to
demonstrate aptitude and fulfill essential job role duties Maintain
current licensure and certification(s) required to perform role/job
