Job Description:
Role Summary
The Metal Technician's primary responsibility and accountability
includes providing an exceptional and successful customer
experience through the meticulous assessment and quality repair of
each customer's vehicle to restore it back to pre-accident
condition. The Metal Technician thoroughly disassembles, repairs
and reassembles each vehicle while playing a pivotal role to
Gerber's promise of quality, customer excellence, and speed
ensuring we are WOWing every customer. The metal Technician works
in alignment with all team members in achieving the repair
facilities KPIs and is committed to being a dedicated Brand
Ambassador of Gerber Collision & Glass at all times.

- "A" Level Technician:
- Ability to do Structural Repairs
- Ability to Use Frame Rack to get proper measurements before and
after
- Ability to perform advanced Structural repair, replacement or
sectioning
- Ability to identify additional damage for advanced repair need:
IE: Air bags, Electrical, Structural, ect.
- Ability to Section a Rail
- "B" Level Technician
- Can Perform Basic Structural Repairs
- Able to Section and follow repair procedures
- Able to do straightening on exterior panels- mid to advanced
level
- Able to measure on the Frame Rack
- Able to identify damage to vehicle during tear down
- Able to perform basic Structural Repair, Sectioning or
Replacement with A tech oversight
- "C" Level Technician
- Primarily handles disassembly/reassembly
- Can perform basic straightening
- Can perform proper welds procedures
- Able to perform plastic repairs Key Education, Experience, and
Skills
Required :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience
- Knowledge of manufacturers' repair/refinishing processes
- Knowledge of a measuring system
- Proficient in welding, straightening panels, properly following
sectioning procedures
- Must be willing to complete ICAR Training
- Must provide own tools
- Maintain mechanics license if required Preferred :
- I-Car certifications
- 3 Years' Experience
- Welding certifications Responsibilities
- Dismantle and repair vehicles as per insurance guidelines and
Gerber's WOW Process. Wow Operating Way - Metal Technician
- Complete a full and thorough inspection/disassembly of the
collision area to determine all damages at the beginning of the
repair
- Ensure all required line items as per the Repair Orders (RO)
are completed to meet WOW Process
- Repair damage to vehicle body panels
- Repair or replace interior and exterior parts, electrical
components and vehicle accessories
- Remove and install welded and sectioned parts to a vehicle
- Apply undercoating, corrosion protection, seam sealer, weld
through primer, and lubricants as required or listed on the RO
- Perform basic maintenance checks: antenna, under the hood,
inside the vehicle, inside the trunk, and outside the vehicle
- Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to
non-mechanical individuals which may include other teammates and
customers (vehicle owners and insurance partners) as required.
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in
formal training sessions in order to stay updated with rapidly
changing technology
- Know status of assigned vehicles and help problem-solve on
getting and keeping all vehicles on schedule for on-time
delivery
- Consistently utilize all required safety equipment
- Able to use and print procedures from Alldata, ICar, ect to
ensure repair methods and materials used are correct
- Must complete ICAR Training within 45 days of being enrolled in
any course

Associated Standard Operating Procedures and Required Knowledge
Base
- Gerber Technician 10 Commitments Physical factors (examples)
- Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time in the repair of
a vehicle.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Requires clear close vision.
- Must be able to use hands efficiently in handling vehicle
parts.
