Hitachi Energy is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer for its Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania location. This role is responsible for development and application of various processes and utilization of specialized equipment to efficiently accomplish such objectives as fabrication, production, modification or repair of Company products. Manage either directly or through subordinate supervisors, physical resources and engineers engaged in technically specialized phases of activities involving one or more engineering disciplines. Direct major engineering efforts that potentially have substantial impact on current engineering projects, future developments and customers. Direct a wide range of complex technical analyses and investigations. Oversee finalization of proposals and present them, with accompanying recommendations, to executives and customers. Proactively seek, develop and implement initiatives to cost effectively achieve goals and ensure utmost customer satisfaction. Promote and enable professional and technical development of staff.

Your responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, assign work, establish priorities, control expenditures, and take appropriate measures to ensure work is completed on schedule and within cost estimates. Manage most efficient distribution and utilization of resources in response to fluctuating workloads, changing priorities and unforeseen problems. Promote independent actions to improve operating efficiencies and customer relations.
  • Provide complex technical and business advice on issues of major importance, to other departments, business units, executives, and customers, involving such factors as contract performance guarantees, development projects, advanced technology studies and tests, specifications, financial and other business considerations. Resulting decisions may have significant impact on future engineering and business development efforts.
  • Conduct negotiations with customers involving such issues as costs, schedules and modifications, and inform them of developments that have the potential for optimizing their operations.
  • Provide leadership and, as necessary, resolve major conflicts between engineers and customers, in order to reach mutual satisfaction and agreement, and protect the Company's interests.
  • Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art technology and market trends affecting the Company's products and services and recommend responsive engineering strategies and development efforts. Your background
    • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field and a minimum of 12 to 16 years' experience; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
    • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
    • Experience in SF6 leak detection equipment and automated high voltage test equipment is highly desired.
    • Challenging tasks including management, technical advice and guidance, decision making, project engineering, cost initiatives, administration, and personnel problems often involve unusual and complex problems, and significant costs.
    • Requires balancing depth of engineering analyses against time and cost constraints and determining proper level of technical detail to release to customers.
    • Decisions and advice to senior management may impact current and future business and customer relations.
    • Requires ability to negotiate with customers regarding major projects and development efforts and to influence decisions of Company managers and major customers. More about us
