Job Summary The Pipeline Integrity Engineer reports to the Supervisor, Integrity Management who is in the Company’s Canonsburg, Pennsylvania office. This position has broad responsibilities for natural gas pipeline integrity management. The focus of this role is implementing the Company’s Integrity Management Plan (IMP), supporting Integrity Management (IM) assessments, oversight of Company’s pipeline risk management program, outside forces threat management program, participation in state and federal inspections, and collecting integrity performance measures for annual reporting. Key Duties and Responsibilities Develop processes and procedures to ensure implementation and documentation of Company’s IMP. Lead the outside forces threat management program within the broader IMP. Lead the annual pipeline risk assessment process. Lead the data integration process within the broader IMP. Maintain and update documentation associated with IMP compliance. Identify, evaluate and risk rank pipeline safety threats or risks. Implement remediation plans, measure performance, monitor results and evaluate program effectiveness. Develop and implement strategies to continually improve the integrity management program. Stay abreast of current and proposed pipeline integrity regulations, participate in the regulatory process, submit positions and comments to rulemaking dockets. Assist the IM Supervisor with the planning and budgets for pipeline assessments and other integrity work. Collaborate with company project execution team to support implementation of IM related projects, including Inline Inspection (ILI) and ILI related dig work. Lead implementation and coordination of depth of cover and waterway survey work. Analyze depth of cover and waterway survey data, risk rank results, and scope mitigations to reduce asset integrity risk. Prepare written procedures to facilitate pipeline integrity assessments of gas transmission and gathering systems. Provide technical support to Company field operations and construction as needed. Prepare and present technical reports and technical summaries on projects. Work with 3 rd party vendors to ensure failure analysis are complete and thoroughly documented. Other duties as assigned Minimum Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor of Science in an engineering field Minimum 6 years of natural gas or hydrocarbon liquid pipeline integrity engineering experience Preferred Qualification Professional Engineering certification is preferred Other Requirements: Strong knowledge of planning and execution of pipeline integrity management tasks including ILI and DA, pipeline repair decisions, pipeline remediation, threat identification, risk assessment and records management Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards including applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, laws, and codes, ASME 31.8, ASME 31.8S, CFR 192, DOT, and PHMSA rules and regulations. Knowledge of CFR 195 is a plus. Strong analytical, planning, organization, time management and problem-solving skills Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints Experience leading cross functional teams Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings/schematics and other engineering documents Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline including Excel, and Word Effective in self-management of time with a demonstrated personal commitment to work Practice the corporate core values of Safe, Caring, Dependable, and Efficient Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and meet company-driving standards Ability to travel away from home office for up to 25% of the time Physical Demands To properly perform the integral functions of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand or walk and stoop or kneel. Frequently, the employee is required to sit. It is crucial to the outcome of job tasks that the employee can talk, hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms extensively. The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 10 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee will have to lift/move objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Vision requirements for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee works both in a business office setting and at a project site. In the course of working at the project site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions, uneven or steep terrain and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office but may become loud at the project site.
