Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Stroke Unit •Patients with many
diagnoses including CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, and kidney disease 5
Pavilion Ortho •30 private beds focusing on both medical and
surgical orthopedics and urology •High performing, team-based
culture •Recognized by the health plan as a Center of Excellence
for Total Joint Replacement 6 South Surgical Oncology Unit •24 bed
surgical oncology unit that specializes in the pre and post op
phase of surgery •Patient population consists of primarily oncology
patients with a diagnosis of colon or gynecological cancers
•Spacious private rooms that are ADA compliant 6 Pavilion Med/Surg
Oncology •30 bed- private rooms •Oncology, Cardio-thoracic surgery,
Post op liver resection surgeries, med/surg patients •Inpatient
Chemotherapy and Trans-Arterial Chemoembolization (TACE) patients 6
Main Med/Surg Unit •34 bed Medical/Surgical Unit •Diverse patient
population including hospice care with unique models of care
•Telemetry Monitoring Rehab Unit •24 bed Post-Acute Inpatient
Rehabilitation •Primary Patient Population includes Stroke and
Neurological Impairments •Rehab team collaboration with Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, SLP, and PM OR •21 ORs •50-60 cases
a day •Ortho, thoracic, highest volume of robotic surgeries in the

rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor. GNs
must be eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass
the examination before beginning this role -OR- must have a
Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX
examination with 6 months of hire. Applicants will be placed in the
appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder
based on their individual experience and education. /n - BSN
Preferred /n - Completion of UPMC Student Nurse Internship Program
or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred. /n - The
individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills
necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the
ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified
below. /n - They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles
of growth and development over the life span and possess the
ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and
interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each
patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and
to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and
procedures. /n - Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring
relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician
providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and
patients/families. /n - Ability to work productively and
effectively within a complex environment and handle
multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. /n -
Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
required as related to various aspects of patient care. /n - Good
clinical judgment. /n - Critical thinking skills necessary to
exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
/n /n Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: /n /n - Current
Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required
prior to program start date OR must have a Temporary Practice
Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination with (X) months
of hire. /n - CPR required based on AHA standards that include both
a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of
hire. /n - Act 34 Criminal Clearance /n - Basic Life Support /n /n
