DEPARTMENT: Academy (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12)JOB TITLE: College
and Career TeacherCLASSIFICATION: ExemptREPORTS TO: Principal (K-2,
3-5, 6-8, or 9-12)JOB GOAL:The College and Career Teacher
facilitates and monitors student progress in our college and career
courses and encourages student exploration into various career
paths. The College and Career Teacher works with students to assess
work, provide support of course content, and offer feedback
according to student need and prescribed policies. Teachers are
responsible for maintaining student records, monitoring needed
remediation, communicating with students, and working with Academic
Advisors to determine course placement. The College and Career
Teacher will provide group and individual student tutoring sessions
based on student need and request. The College and Career Teacher
will communicate on a regular basis with Academic leadership, the
Curriculum Department, Guidance Department, Academic Advisors,
students, and families.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:* Valid and active
Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in subject area and/or valid
and active Pennsylvania Certification in School Counseling; school
counseling certification preferred.* Bachelor's Degree* Job related
experience preferred.* Child Abuse Clearance, Pennsylvania State
Police Criminal Record Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) Clearance requiredESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Orient students to their course, communicate course requirements,
and monitor student progress and pacing.* Demonstrate thorough
knowledge and understanding of assigned course or courses.*
Understand the diverse backgrounds and needs of PA Cyber students
and families.* Facilitate and hold weekly office hours and tutoring
session for students.* Establish and communicate clear objectives
for all learning activities.* Work with the curriculum department
to make sure curricular material is aligned to all applicable state
standards, assessment anchors, and eligible content.* Create
content and assessments as assigned by the curriculum department
and/or supervisor.* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the
college and career software program utilized within the college and
career courses.* Work with the guidance department to highlight and
communicate relevant student events centered around college and/or
career opportunities to families.* Monitor and evaluate student
progress to determine appropriate course pacing.* Recommend and
implement developmentally appropriate programs, activities, and
interventions to individual students as necessary.* Collaborate
with other administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, academic
advisors, family members, and community agencies to assist students
with educational planning.* Communicate student progress on a
regular basis to students and families.* Provide detailed feedback
in a timely manner for all course work submitted.* Plan and
participate in various college and career events throughout the
state.* Assist in the development of activities and programs for
college and career awareness, exploration, and preparation for
students and families.* Administer state assessments as assigned by
the state assessment coordinator and/or supervisor - teachers may
be asked to travel, including overnight travel, for these
assessments.* Attend all required onsite trainings, meetings,
in-service days, and professional development days in person.*
Attend all required online trainings, meetings, in-service days,
and professional development days from your assigned workstation.*
Return all emails, phone calls, and all types of correspondence in
a 24-hour time frame.* Implement student IEPs, GIEPs, and 504 Plans
and attend meetings as needed.* Maintain a thorough understanding
of the various technologies and systems utilized within the
school.* Submit progress updates to students, parents, and Academic
Advisors as assigned/requested.* Function as the primary point of
contact for all students on their roster* Show an active interest
in student success by building a positive relationship with
students and families.* Perform any additional duties as deemed
necessary by the supervisor, Principal, Curriculum Department, and
administrationPHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this
job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; use
hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with
hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or
crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25
pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
